Around 5 p.m. on June 28, Texas A&M Forest Service received a request for assistance for a fire approximately 4 miles south of Possum Kingdom Lake and 9 miles west of Palo Pinto. Agency crews are working in unified command with Palo Pinto County.

The fire is burning in brush, grass and mesquite mix, and is showing low to moderate fire behavior at times

The Storage Fire reached 100% containment on July 4th, 2023. On July 7th, 2023 a slop over occurred and Texas A&M Forest Service was requested to come assist local volunteer fire departments with suppression efforts.

Cloudy skies with a few showers and storms possible through the morning hours. There is a low potential for gusty and erratic winds and lightning with this activity. Otherwise, hot and clearing skies this afternoon with highs around 100 degrees and heat index around 106. Surface winds will be around 10-15 mph from the south. Relative humidity values will drop to around 30-35 percent this afternoon. No precipitation is expected the rest of the week.
