Projected Incident Activity

12 hours: Seasonably warm temperatures and low humidity, combined with gusty winds have made for enhanced fire behavior that will continue for the next several hours. Service Fire has grown exponentially.

24 hours: Main concern for Tuesday will be winds. Although it will be cooler with higher humidity, the winds will be breezy. Ridgetop winds as well as winds over portions of the Service Fire will increase from the west-northwest sustained at 8-12 mph with gusts 20-25 mph.

48 hours: There is a high probability (80%) of showers on Wednesday. The most likely rainfall amounts will be around 0.1 inch but there is a good chance of 0.2 inch with the system. It will be considerably cooler with high humidity, but breezy winds will continue.

72 hours: Showers will taper off Thursday morning, and the remainder of the day will be cool. Winds will not be as gusty on Thursday.

Anticipated after 72 hours: Fall-like conditions are forecasted through the weekend and continue through next week.

Current Weather
Weather Concerns

It was dry and warm today with afternoon temperatures between 80-85 and the relative humidity between 15-21 percent. Ridgetop winds were predominantly from the west at 5-10 mph. Upslope and upvalley winds were also observed as well. Winds have varied in direction and speed across the terrain with higher gusts along west-east drainages, including along SR19

A cooling trend begins on Tuesday, and the relative humidity will be higher as well. Highs will be in the 70s and the relative humidity in the 20s. There will be a slight uptick in winds on Tuesday with gusts 15-17 mph along the ridgetops and 13-15 mph where the surface winds align with terrain.

Wednesday wil be much cooler with showers likely. There is an excellent chance for wetting rain (that is, greater than 0.10 inch), and around a 30% chance for 0.25 inch of rain Wednesday through Thursday morning.
