The Circle Fire was discovered on July 19 at 7:12 pm.  The fire is burning in grass and brush, near the base of Antelope Peak.

A TFR (Temporary Flight Restriction) is in place. Wildfires are a no drone zone! Remember, If you fly, we can’t! Any interference with aerial suppression efforts will result in grounding aircraft until the area is clear.

Update 7/21 @8 am: Freeman Road is CLOSED. Deputies will be placed at roadblocks throughout the fire area. The public is asked to avoid the fire area, including Barkersville and Willow Springs Road. The AZT (Arizona Trail) is closed between Oracle and Kearny. Hikers should plan an alternate route.

Update 7/20 @ 6pm: Estimated acreage 1,000+. The winds have shifted 180 degrees and are pushing the fire east. Crews are repositioning to initiate firing operations ahead of the advancing flames. 2 dozers are improving a road that the crews will burn off of. Aircraft unable to be effective with the increase in winds. Thunderstorms over the area are bringing light precip along with outflow winds. 

Update 7/20 @10:30 am: Air Attack has completed a full recon of the fire and is estimating size at 200 acres and growing. The fire is spreading at a moderate rate through grass and brush. The Ft Grant handcrew and Aravaipa IHC are responding along with 2 dozers, two water tenders and miscellaneous overhead. 

UPDATE 7/20 @ 9 am: Air Attack has been ordered to recon the fire. Resources continue to arrive onscene and engage in fire suppression efforts.

As of 7/19 at 11:30pm, there are no road closures or evacuations. The public is asked to avoid the area to allow firefighters to conduct full suppression efforts without risk to public safety. For the most up to date road conditions, visit AZ 511.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time. The priority of resources working the Circle Fire is to implement full suppression tactics to prevent further spread while first providing for firefighter and public safety. When it is safe to do so, an investigation will be conducted to determine the cause of the fire. Once the determination has been made, the information will be released to the public.
