Announcements

Pending favorable conditions, firefighters on the Superior Ranger District are planning to conduct prescribed fire operations today to reduce hazardous fuels from previous vegetation management operations and create a fire adapted ecosystem. 
Pending conditions,  firefighters on Plains/Thompson Falls Ranger District will continue prescribed fire operations to reduce fuels from previous management operations.Plains/Thompson Falls Ranger District: 
 Pending conditions,  firefighters on the Lolo National Forest  will conduct prescribed fire operations on several districts to help improve and maintain forest health and enhance big game and turkey habitat. 
UPDATE: This prescribed fire planned for today has been postponed due to unfavorable weather conditions. The Second Chance unit received rain this morning. 
Superior Ranger District: Pending conditions, prescribed fire operations will take place on the Superior Ranger District to help reduce hazardous fuels and improve habitat for big game winter range.

Seeley Ranger District:Pending favorable conditions, firefighters will conduct up to one acre of pile burning at the Seeley Lake District Office. Smoke may be visible from Highway 83.
Plains/Thompson Falls Ranger District: Yesterday, fire crews accomplished 10 acres of prescribed fire operations on the Clear Creek units, 6 miles west of Thompson Falls up Prospect Creek. Today, firefighters plan to finish up to 30 acres of prescribed burning on these units.  Smoke may be visible from Thompson Falls.

Seeley Lake Ranger District: Firefighters will conduct up to 6 acres of hand pile burning today and tomorrow to reduce hazardous fuels from previous vegetation management operations. Pending conditions, the pile burning will take place 2.5 miles northwest of Seeley Lake. Smoke may be visible from Seeley Lake and Highway 83 north.
Pile burning will take place on the Plains/Thompson Falls Ranger District to help reduce hazardous fuels, a key component of the Wildfire Crisis Strategy.
