Operations: The weather system that brought widespread rain and snow across the burned area helped cool down active fire to smoldering conditions yesterday. Due to unsafe working conditions brought on by yesterday's weather event, the Incident Management Team made a safety decision to hold fire crews off the fire line. Pockets of heat remain within the fire's interior, likely to result in smoky conditions as the weather clears today.

Les damos la bienvenida al Grupo Silver para el Manejo de Incidentes de la zona Este (Eastern Area Silver Incident Management Team) quienes arribaron al área del incendio y tomaran el comando del incendio el día de hoy a las 6:00 PM.
Condiciones climáticas: Para el sábado, se dio en efecto un aviso de clima de invierno con tormentas fuertes del Pacifico que se introdujeron en el área. Este fenómeno traerá consigo precipitaciones entre moderadas a pesadas, temperaturas bajas a mediados de los 30 grados, y vientos fuertes del Oeste con ráfagas entre 30 a 35 mph. También se presentarán chubascos de nieve más allá de los 4,500 pies de altura, posiblemente alcanzando una acumulación de 8 pulgadas sobre el área de Willamette Pass. Para el domingo, continuara la presencia de lluvias y nieve en horas de la mañana, las cuales se disiparán un poco durante el día. Se experimentarán temperaturas arriba de los 30 y a mediados de los 40 grados, con humedad relativa entre un 70 y 90 porciento, además se presentarán vientos del suroeste entre 10 y 20 mph.

Forest closure for Cedar Creek Fire reduced again
Cultus Lake and Davis Lake areas to reopen
Bend, Ore — Beginning today, the forest closure for the Cedar Creek Fire on the Deschutes National Forest will be reduced, opening up a portion of the area around Cultus Lake and all of Davis Lake.
The Pacific Crest Trail (System Trail #2000) from the junction of the Pacific Crest Trail at Forest Service Road 4290 to the Pacific Crest Trail junction with the Snowshoe Lake Trail will remain closed. In addition, Forest Service Road 4630 at the junction of Forest Service Road 4635 to the Met-Win Trail at the junction with Winopee Lake Trail will remain closed.
Please check with local resorts for information about the services they will be offering.

Existe una alta probabilidad de lluvias en horas de la tarde, presentándose entre precipitación moderada y pesada en horas de la noche. Posiblemente se observará la presencia de nieve arriba de los 4,500 pies de altura. Durante el fin de semana, la presión atmosférica continuara disminuyendo, experimentándose el sábado, entre los 30 y 40 pies, vientos del suroeste con ráfagas entre 25 y 30 mph y acumulaciones de nieve de 3 a 8 pulgadas más allá de los 4,000 pies de altura. Para los próximos días, se espera un decrecimiento sustancial en la actividad del incendio debido a la presencia de temperaturas más bajas y el incremento en la humedad relativa. Sin embargo, debido a las condiciones de humo y con baja presión atmosférica, se seguirá experimentando el problema de una calidad pobre del aire a través de la zona afectada. Weather: Friday will have high temperatures in the 50s – 60s, with relative humidity between 40 – 50 percent. Strong NW to SW winds will push smoke easterly across the divide, with wind gusts in the valleys up to 30 mph. There will be a good chance of precipitation in the afternoon with moderate to heavy precipitation at night, and snow possible above 4500 feet. As we roll into the weekend, pressure will continue to drop with temperatures on Saturday in the low-30’s to mid-40’s, SW wind gusts of 25 – 30 mph, and snow accumulations of 3 – 8 inches above 4000 feet, with wind gusts in the valleys up to 30 mph.
Operations: With 55 percent containment, crews are still engaged in patrol and mop up operations in multiple divisions. Minimal air resources will be utilized as weather moves into the area. Operations on the ground may also be paused temporarily during the incoming rain and snow to ensure the safety of firefighters. Westerly winds will drive smoke out of the valley, providing for increased visibility and a reprieve for residents who have been socked in by smoke for a long period of time.
In Division A on the northwest corner of the fire, monitoring of fire will continue in the Fisher Creek area where it continues to back slowly toward the line. In Division P on the eastern edge, crews will hold and patrol the areas where fire is still active along containment lines and continue repair and rehab operations of dozer lines and handlines. In Division S to the southeast, crews will continue to hold and secure control lines on spot fires and conduct suppression repair as necessary.
With much lower temperatures and higher relative humidity expected over the next few days, fire activity is expected to decrease substantially. However, due to smoldering conditions and lower pressure, poor visibility and air quality will continue to be an issue.
The Eastern Area Silver Incident Management Team will be arriving at the Cedar Creek Fire today to be in-briefed. They will transition with NW Team 12 tomorrow, taking command of the fire at 6:00 PM on Saturday, October 22.
Closures: There are new, reduced closures in effect on the Deschutes National Forest and Willamette National Forest. These closures will remain in place until areas impacted by the fire are surveyed for safety risks and fire crews are able to mitigate these hazards. Condiciones climáticas: El día de hoy traerá consigo temperaturas más bajas debido a la desintegración de la alta presión en el área. Las temperaturas se presentarán entre los 60 y 70 grados, con una humedad relativa entre un 20 y un 30 por ciento. Vientos variables con menos de 10 mph de velocidad en ciertas áreas. Este fenómeno continuara disminuyendo la presión atmosférica con las temperaturas entre los 50 y a mitad de los 60 grados, humedad entre rangos de 35 y 50 por ciento y acompañado de vientos con ráfagas entre 20 y 30 mph. Weather: Thursday will provide for cooler temperatures as the ridge of high pressure breaks down. Temperatures will be in the 60’s – 70’s, with relative humidity between 20 – 30 percent. Winds will be variable with speeds less than 10 mph in some areas. Starting Friday, the pressure will continue to drop with temperatures in the mid-50’s to mid-60’s, humidity in the 35 – 50 percent range, and wind gusts between 20 – 30 mph. This trend will progress toward the weekend bringing in precipitation in the 1-1/2 to 2 inch range between Friday evening and Sunday evening, and 4+ inches of snow possible on Saturday in the higher elevations.
Operations: Crews are still engaged in patrol and mop up operations in multiple divisions of the fire area. Air resources will be scaling back over the next several days, but will continue as weather and visibility permit, providing support to firefighters on the ground. Strong inversions continue to lock in smoke from interior fire activity into the surrounding valleys and drainages, extending the poor air quality conditions in and around Oakridge and nearby communities. The fire remains within control lines with 50 percent containment.
Repair and rehabilitation projects across the fire area are ongoing. Assessment and repair continue around road systems along the northern edge of the fire. In Division Alpha on the northwest corner of the fire, repairs on the 1944 road and 1958 road are now complete. In Division Romeo to the southeast, continued work will include repair and rehab of dozer and handlines. The west side of the fire perimeter will also see continued repair operations.
