Evacuation Warning lifted for communities of Bolinas and Dog Town

At 12pm on Saturday, August 29, 2020, the Marin County Sheriff’s Office, in collaboration with the Woodward Fire Incident Command, are lifting the evacuation warning for the community of Bolinas. This notice includes areas from Hwy 1 south of Five Brooks, east to the Bolinas Ridge and south through the communities of Bolinas and Dog Town. Other evacuation warnings and orders around the Woodward Fire remain in effect. Residents are encouraged to remain aware, ensure they are registered for Alert Marin as this fire and the associated weather may require changes to evacuation notifications.

Yesterday we saw mostly moderate air quality with periods of USG in the forecast area. Today and tomorrow expect air quality to be similar. Smoke from the northern fires is impacting this area along with smoke from the Woodward fire.

News Release Firefighters Injured on Woodward Fire

Point Reyes, CA – Two firefighters sustained non-life-threatening injuries from falling debris late morning on Thursday, August 27, 2020.  They were each transported by ambulance to a local hospital where they received medical screening and care. No further information will be released at this time.

Smoke impacts today and tomorrow should be similar to yesterday. The continued SW winds should help keep the smoke impacts slightly less in the coastal areas which can expect air quality conditions from moderate to USG. Inland areas will have a greater impact and can expect overall unhealthy air quality with periods in very unhealthy. The best chance for a bit of relief for most of the forecast area is in the later evening hours into the early morning hours.

The coastal areas can expect good air quality conditions in the morning before moving into moderate and USG in the afternoon. Inland areas will see greater smoke impact and can expect overall unhealthy air quality with periods in very unhealthy.

The coastal areas can expect good air quality conditions in the morning before moving into moderate and USG in the afternoon. Inland areas will see greater smoke impacts and can expect air quality to move into USG and unhealthy this afternoon.

Yesterday we saw good to moderate air quality in most of the forecast area. San Rafael area was impacted last night but should clear slightly mid-day. Today we should see mostly good to moderate again. Tonight or early tomorrow morning we could see smoke roll in from the north and settle into the forecast area. Tomorrow's air quality is expected to worsen.
