Crews worked through the night to successfully stop forward progression of the fire. Private dozers, VFDs, county maintainers, and forest service personnel fought fire aggressively to protect homes and infrastructure. Aviation resources began dropping retardant and water on the fire this morning, working to strengthen containment lines and slow spread until heavy equipment can successfully put in fire breaks around the entire fire. Multiple helicopters, fire boss single engine air tankers, and large air tankers are on scene today.
No structures are reported as threatened today, however residents in the area should stay aware of the situation of the fire. Trigger points should be set to indicate when an evacuation should take place in case the fire crosses containment lines. 
temporary flight restriction (TFR) is in place over the fire. This TFR applies to drones as well, meaning if a drone is in the area all aerial firefighting operations must stop until the airspace is cleared.

Additional Texas A&M Forest Service resources arrived on scene late Wednesday night. Heavy equipment will construct containment lines and firing operations will be conducted through the night. Firefighters take advantage of the higher humidity at night to secure containment lines by burning off vegetation between the fire break and the fire. Fire departments and private dozers are still on scene working to stop forward progression. Air resources have been requested for Thursday morning.

Gatlin Creek Fire Update 10:30am 07/07/22

Texas A&M Forest Service resumed unified command with local fire departments on the Gatlin Creek fire at 9am. Local fire departments monitored overnight. Crews worked into the night to complete the dozer line around the perimeter. Crews today will continue to enhance dozer lines and mitigate heavy fuels near the line. The acreage was estimated by helicopter crews on Wednesday at 325 acres, until more detailed.

Gatlin Creek Fire Update 830pm 070622

Evacuations have been lifted as of 8:30 Wednesday evening. 10 structures were initially threatened and saved. Forward progress has now been stopped. TAMFS dozers are continuing construction of fire containment lines, but progress is slow due to thick fuels and terrain. Engine crews continue to work around defending structures and mop up operations. Containment is 20%. 
Expect smoke and emergency vehicles in the fire area throughout the night. Do not fly drones in the area of wildfires as they endanger wildfire aircraft crews and impede wildfire suppression operations.

Crews have been monitoring the Post Oak fire, walking the perimeter and the interior. No areas of concern were found, so containment was increased to 100%. Command has been handed back over to the local departments.

A small interior pocket reignited this afternoon, prompting Texas A&M Forest Service resources to be called back to the scene. The problem was addressed and the problem area will be checked again tomorrow.

On Saturday 7/9 the incident commander of the Post Oak Fire determined that the fire was 100% contained. Command of the fire has been turned back over to the local departments. The cause remains undetermined at this time.

A hotshot hand crew is working in the rough terrain to access problem areas that are inaccessible to engines and equipment.

Post Oak Fire 78 Update 930am

Containment on the Post Oak fire has been increased to 60%, size remains at 35 acres. Containment lines have been established, which will continue to be monitored for any heat remaining. A hotshot hand crew is working in the rough terrain to access problem areas that are inaccessible to engines and equipment.

Crews worked into the night to stop forward progression of the fire in rough terrain. The handcrew is making good progress in areas inaccessible by equipment and engines. Some smokes continue to surface and crews are addressing these as they arise. Residents should be stay alert to conditions and set trigger points indicating when an evacuation may be neccesary.
