Videos Gallery

One of the tools crews have used on the Cowlitz Complex is a masticator. This impressive piece of equipment is used to reduce the amount of vegetation along the fire line. The masticator attachment can grind or flail vegetation into chips or can also cut down and grind up whole standing trees in one process.

This particular masticator in the picture and video below is being used near the Snagtooth fire.

Grassy Mountain road access is narrow and tough.

Yesterday and today's break in the cloud cover allowed for aerial observers to see a few small wisps of smoke. With warmer, drier weather, it's expected to see more smoke!
