Current Situation:
There has been no active fire growth in the last 48 hours. The fire is located in remote and rugged terrain. Due to heavy rainfall yesterday, overnight, and today, fire activity is expected to be very low. Containment has increased to 70% as crews have successfully built fire line breaks around the perimeter. This fire is being managed under a full suppression strategy, ensuring all actions reflect a commitment to incident personnel safety and public safety.
Operational plan for today:
A Type 3 helicopter continues to be assigned to the fire. A Type 4 Incident Commander will assume command of the Washakie Park Fire on Friday, September 16, 2022 at 6am. Future Information about the fire will continue to be posted to the InciWeb Information Page. Further updates will only be published if necessary.
Shoshone and Arapaho Fish and Game Road Closure:
The Shoshone and Arapaho Fish and Game have issued a road closure for the Washakie Park Road and Sage Creek Road to St. Lawrence located within the Wind River Indian Reservation.

Fire Conditions and Weather:
Steady, moderate precipitation is expected over the fire area today. Isolated showers and thunderstorms accompanied by gusty and erratic outflow are forecast. Winds from the west will be 10-15 mph. More precipitation is expected on Friday.
