Update: Overnight firefighters monitored fire activity and continued identifying hot spots. The fire is now 60% contained. Today crews will improve lines around the perimeter of the fire and identify any fuel pockets that are still burning. As crews strengthen the fire line we will be re-evaluating and updating the containment percentage. Crews will continue to secure lines around structures within the fire perimeter.

When a fire is described as "lined," it means that firefighters have established a fire line around the fire's perimeter. This line is typically an area that is cleared down to mineral soil to prevent the fire from spreading further. This can be achieved by using hand crews or by heavy equipment like bulldozers. This line is designed to stop forward progression of the fire but requires more work to ensure the fire won’t be able to cross the fire line.

Containment of the fire continues to increase as firefighters extinguish hot spots and secure the fire perimeter. "Containment" refers to the percentage of the fire's perimeter that has been secured with control lines. However, containment does not necessarily mean the fire is extinguished; it indicates that the fire is controlled and will not spread beyond the established containment or control lines.

Weather and Fire Behavior: Continued dry weather with breezy to windy conditions into this evening. Temperatures are expected to be 73-76 degrees with mostly sunny skies. The fire continues to smolder within its current perimeter with minimal spread.

Smoke: Air quality is good, and smoke impacts are diminishing as mop up continues. For more information on smoke and air quality, please visit Washington Smoke Information (https://wasmoke.blogspot.com/).

Air Space Restrictions:There are no restrictions in place.

Sheltering: Sheltering is available for individuals who have evacuated their homes due to the Red Bridge Road Fire. Contact Kittitas County Sheriff’s Office for assistance.

Resources: 129 personnel are currently working on the fire.
