Newport, Wash., (September 4, 2022) —
There was an increase of activity on the Thor Fire over the last few days when Red Flag weather conditions impacted the fire area. Elevated temperatures and increased winds contributed to fire growth inside the containment line.
Due to the steep, rugged terrain and heavy dead and down timber litter, it is unsafe for firefighters to engage directly along the fire edge, so indirect line is being utilized toward the objective of full suppression.
