Cause: Unknown at this time
Texas A&M Forest Service received a request for assistance for a wildfire in Wichita County at 5:30 pm where at least ten structures were under threat. Incident Commander Ben Rieck requested crews and equipment from Burkburnett, Mineral Wells, air resources, and resources with Texas Intrastate Fire Mutual Aid System Strike Team (TIFMAS) for assistance.
Dozers, engines, and ground crews have began constructing containment lines with support from air resources to knock down the head and flanks.
Today:
The Mack Fire is now 15% contained, air resources have timed out for the day, and ground crews will continue to work into the night in an attempt to stop forward progression.
Weather and Fire Behavior:
Very hot and dry conditions today with a Red Flag Warning and an Excessive Heat Warning in effect from noon to 9 PM. Winds will generally be below 12 mph this afternoon, increasing slightly tonight as seen in previous days. Low humidity this afternoon will rebound back into the 80s after midnight tonight. Similar
conditions to today are expected on Sunday.
