At 7:00 pm on Aug. 8, Texas A&M Forest Service received a request for assistance for a fire off of HWY 59, approximately 10 miles northeast of Jacksboro, Texas.

Multiple dozers from Texas A&M Forest Service have worked to construct containment line around the fire, tying in all lines as of yesterday evening, dozer crews continue to reinforce the containment lines today with some crews being sent to the adjacent Monkey Creek Fire in Hardeman County. Engine crews performed structure protection yesterday along with mop-up operations and patrolling the containment lines, Engine crews will continue to patrol and mop up through the operational period today. Aviation resources have been used to slow flanks and head of the fire allowing dozer crews to make good progress and complete contaiment line construction.

 

Evacuations:

Voluntary evacuation had taken place. Residents have since been able to return.

Closures:

HWY 59 had been closed down but since has been reopened.
