Blum Fire Evening Update

Wednesday, July 26, 2023

July 26, 2023

Size: 250 acres

Containment: 0%

Date Started: July 26, 2023

Cause: Unknown

Structures: There have been 5 homes lost at this time with 25 more structures immediately threatened.

Evacuations: Currently there are no evacuations in place on the Blum Fire. Any residents to the North of White Rock Creek are advised to take precaution and exit the area due to the risk of further fire spread. Residents should take all people and pets, personal items needed for the next 24-48 hours, prescriptions, important papers, and any irreplaceable items with them if they do evacuate. Keeping these 5 things in mind will help to be prepared if evacuations are needed.

Local resources from multiple counties as well as state resources from Texas A&M Forest (TAMFS), Texas Intrastate Fire Mutual Aid System (TIFMAS), and Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) are responding to the Blum fire near Blum Texas. At this time the emphasis is on structure protection with dozers, engines and aircraft providing support.

Closures: FM Road 933 south of Blum to FM Road 1153 is closed due to fire activity. Residents should expect to see fire vehicles in and around the area and should use caution on the roadways. Fire crews will be in the area working along roads for the next several days.

Weather and Fire Behavior: High temperatures are expected to continue through to the weekend making conditions difficult for firefighters to directly attack the fire. Relative humidity is around 25% but tonight should recover to above 80%. Winds will remain high with occasional gusts out of the south. These winds are expected to decrease slightly tonight and then return to similar levels tomorrow.
