Pyramid Fire Reduced Forest Closure Notice 08-20-2024

Springfield, OR – Aug. 19, 2024 – The Willamette National Forest has reduced an emergency closure area for the Pyramid Fire, which was reported July 17 in the Sweet Home Ranger District. The closure order, which is for public and firefighter safety, is effective through Nov. 15, 2024, unless modified or rescinded sooner.
The Pyramid Fire, located east of Sweet Home, is approximately 1,320 acres in size and 70% contained. The official cause of the fire is lightning.
The general closure area extends from Forest Service Road (FSR) 11, south to Highway 20, encompassing the Middle Santiam Wilderness. The closure area includes FSR 11 from FSR 1133 to the Hwy 22 junction. FSR 2212 would be closed between Hwy 22 and FSR 1133 junction.
Lava Lake Sno Park remains open. Closed recreation sites and trails include Big Springs Sno Park, Maxwell Butte Sno Park, Bridge to Nowhere #3377, Chimney Peak (Shedd Camp) #3382, Crescent Mountain #3384, Daly Lake #3385, Gordan Peak #3387, and McQuade Creek #3397.
