Brice Creek Fire: Size: 583 acres | Start Date: August 24, 2023 | Cause: Lightning | Containment: 25%

Firefighters installed a hoselay across the northern secondary containment line yesterday.  Firing operations will take place today on the north flank of the fire. These are small-scale operations, burning remaining fuels in interior green pockets. The larger firing operation to secure the southeast flank of the fire will take place in the days ahead as fuels continue to dry out. Crews will continue mopping up and patrolling the fire perimeter, working to increase mop-up depth across all flanks of the fire.

Dinner Fire: Size:  304 acres | Start Date: August 24, 2023 | Cause: Lightning | Containment: 90%

There is a small amount of remaining heat in the northwest corner of the Dinner Fire where fire crews will focus their efforts today. Aside from that, the fire is close to being fully contained. Firefighters today will be patrolling the fire perimeter, extinguishing any hot spots, and increasing mop-up depth on containment lines.

Grizzly Fire: Size:  109 acres | Start Date: August 24, 2023 | Cause: Lightning | Containment: 0%

Forest Service Road 2212 is on the east side of the Grizzly Fire is being improved with a road grader, roller, and woodchipper for use as an indirect containment line. Structure protection resources will remain on scene and a Wildland Fire Module continues to take strategic suppression actions as required based on fire activity.

Weather:  Temperatures will range from 70-80° on the ridges and 75-85° in the valleys with minimum relative humidity in the range of 30-45%.  Valley up-slope wind will be 3-5 mph, after 11 am winds will be primarily out of the west northwest 5-10 mph with gusts to 15.

Evacuations:  Lane County issued a Level 2 Evacuation (Be Set) for all private lands and mining claims in the Bohemia areas within the Cottage Grove Ranger District of the Umpqua National Forest.

Safety and Closures:  There is a forest closure for portions of the Umpqua National Forest in response to fire activity in the area to protect public and wildland firefighter safety.  There is a Temporary Flight Restriction over the fire area that is being evaluated and may be reduced based on a lower level of fire activity.
