Harney and Grant County Remove all Evacuations 08-20-2024

Falls Fire, Telephone Fire
Publication Type: Announcement - 08/20/2024 - 12:00

From Grant County:

Falls Fire removes all evacuation zones in Grant County leaving Grant County in an evacuation free status.

In coordination with the US Forest Service and Harney County all remaining evacuation zones have been removed around the Falls Fire. Forest closures are still in place and for additional information, please refer to the Forest Service website at https://www.fs.usda.gov/alerts/malheur/alerts-notices for maps and more up to date information on forest closures.

Although the risk has been significantly reduced, we remind the public that there is still significant
fire fighting activity occurring in the area and to avoid the closed forest areas for your own safety.

EVACUATION LEVELS LIFTED:

The Harney County Sheriff’s Office, in collaboration with the Falls Fire Incident Command NW2, and Harney County Emergency Management is LIFTING ALL evacuation levels that were imposed for the Falls and Telephone Fires 2024.

Forest closures remain in place, follow U.S. Forest Service-Malheur National Forest for more information including maps.

We’d like to remind everyone that the fires are still burning and there may be areas that will continue to burn/smolder for some time. Fire crews remain in the area doing mop up and other repair work.
