Pile Burn Update 11-19-2024

Missoula Ranger District: Fire managers plan to burn up to 66 acres of hand piles on the Granite Graves project located 3 miles up the Fish Creek Road.  Smoke may be visible from Highway 12. 

Ninemile Ranger District: Firefighters plan to burn 2 acres of hand piles at the District Office in Huson.  Smoke may be visible in the Ninemile Valley.  

Plains/Thompson Falls Ranger District:  Firefighters will burn up to 40 acres of piles located 3 miles northwest of Paradise. Smoke may be visible from Paradise and Highway 200.

Seeley Lake Ranger District: Firefighters will conduct up to 40 acres of machine piles located 7 miles north of Ovando. Smoke may be visible from Ovando and Highway 200. 

Superior Ranger District: Firefighters will burn up to 50 acres of piles located 5 miles northwest of St. Regis on Boyd Mountain. Smoke may be visible from St. Regis and Highway 200. 

Prescribed fire is implemented in compliance with Montana air quality standards and coordinated with the Montana Department of Environmental Quality and the appropriate county health departments to minimize the impacts of smoke.
