Supervisor’s Order
HOG TROUGH FIRE TRAIL AND AREA CLOSURE

Pursuant to 16 U.S.C. § 551 and 36 CFR 261.50 (a) and (b), the following acts are prohibited on the National Forest System (NFS) lands, roads, and trails on the, within the Darby Ranger District on the Bitterroot National Forest, Ravalli County, Montana described below and shown on the attached map incorporated into this Order as Exhibit A (the “Described Area” and “Described Trails”):
PROHIBITION
1. Being on the Described Trails, 36 C.F.R. § 261.55(a).
2. Going into or being upon the Described area 36 C.F.R. § 261.52(e).
EXEMPTIONS
Pursuant to Title 36 C.F.R § 261.50(e), the following persons are exempt from this Order:
1. Persons with a special use authorization or other Forest Service authorization specifically exempting them from the effect of this Order. 36 CFR § 261.50(e)(1).
2. Any Federal, State, or local officer or member of an organized rescue or fire fighting force in performance of an official duty. 36 CFR § 261.50(e)(4)
CLOSED Trails and Roads:
1. Railroad Creek, National Forest System Trail #77 from (T5N, R18W, Sect. 28, 27, 26, 25) to Trail#313 C at the gate (T11N, R23W, Sect. 26). As shown on the attached map.
2. Weasel Creek, National Forest System Trail #156, from milepost 0.00 at its junction with NFSR #461 (T4N, R18W, Sect. 4, 3; T5N R18W Sec 34, 35, 26, 25) As shown on the attached map.
3. Bitterroot Rock Creek Divide Trail #313,: National Forest System Trail #313 from where it intersects the Railroad Creek Trail #77 , Weasel Creek Trail #156 and further south to the Jerry Lake Trail #503. (T4N, R18W, Sec 7, 6). (T5N R18W Sec 31, 36, 25, 24,13, 14, 11,2,1)

4. Skalkaho Creek -Jerry Lake Trail #503, National Forest System Trail #503 (T4N R18 W sec 4, 10,11, 2,12, 1. (T4N R17 W Sec 7,6. As shown on attached map.)
DESCRIBED AREA, ROADS AND TRAILS
Described Area: All NFS Lands on the Darby Ranger District of the Bitterroot National Forest in the area bounded east of the Skalkaho Road FS #75 ( is Open) from the junction with the Railroad Creek/#711 Road (is open) but Railroad Creek is closed beyond the road, to the south and east of those roads up to the Rock Creek Divide Trail #313;Travelling south/southeast east of the 75 Road to the junction of FSR Road 75 and Trail #503 Jerry Lake Trail to the Junction of Trail #313 (Bitterroot Rock Creek Divide Trail); travel north along Trail #313 to the junction with the Railroad Creek Trail #77.
UPDATED:
The following roads will be open to the public effective September 1, 2022:
US Forest Service Road #75, Rye Creek Rd, from the Junction with Highway 38 (Skalkaho Highway) to the junction with Skalkaho Creek, Jerry Lake Trailhead #503.
US Forest Service Road #711 from its intersection with Highway 38 (Skalkaho Highway) to the US Forest Service Road #75, including ancillary roads leading from the 711 road [FSR Roads #5783, FSR Road # 62622, FSR Road 13257, FSR Road # 711A].
PURPOSE
The purpose of this order is for public health and safety from the effects of the Hog Trough Fire.
VIOLATION
Violation of these provisions is punishable by a fine of not more than $5,000 for an individual or $10,000 for an organization, or imprisonment for not more than six (6) months, or both (16 U.S.C. § 551 and 18 U.S.C. § 3559, 3571, and 3581).
IMPLEMENTATION
1. This order will be in effect September 1, 2022, and will remain in effect, until fire conditions subside, and this order is rescinded.
2. A map identifying the Closed Area is attached and made part of this Order.
