INCIDENT COMMANDER:             Shane Martin Central Montana T3 Incident Management Team

WHAT:                                               Wildland Fire DATE OF DETECTION:                    August 26, 2022 CAUSE:                                              Lightning CURRENT SIZE:                                2,842 Acres CONTAINMENT:                              0% LOCATION:                                       2 miles SE of Gibbons Pass JURISDICTION:                                Beaverhead-Deerlodge and Bitterroot National Forest

The Trail Ridge Fire is currently burning on the Beaverhead-Deerlodge and Bitterroot National Forest in the 2000 Mussigbrod burned area.  Fire growth was observed on all sides of the fire.  Planned activity for today is to continue to monitor the fire utilizing firefighter lookouts posted around the perimeter.  Lookouts have reported snags falling every few minutes and is too dangerous for fire personnel to work directly on the fire.  Crews will be looking at options in case the fire moves closer to private lands.  There are two closures associated with this fire.

Firefighter and public safety and always the highest priority during a wildfire.  No amount of protection for a structure or resource is worth the loss of human life. There are currently no structures or resources threatened by these fires.
