The Limepoint Fire added about 100 acres as interior islands continue to consume fuels. No fires threatened containment lines and the fire footprint is unchanged. Containment increased to 93%. Firefighters continue to strengthen and improve containment lines.
Heavy equipment specialists have been hard at work repairing roads and dozer line affected by firefighting operations. Road graders have nearly completed re-grading the Council-Cuprum Road and logging operations are complete on the eastern side of the fire. Logging crews are relocating north.
An upper-level ridge and surface high pressure are centered over the fire area, bringing clear skies and increasing temperatures. Today will see hot and dry conditions that continue through the holiday weekend, with temperatures trending warmer each day. Overnight humidity recoveries will be poor.
The United States Forest Service (USFS), United States Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Southern Idaho Timber Protective Association (SITPA), and the Idaho Department of Lands (IDL) lifted Stage 1 fire restrictions in all zones of the Payette Fire Restriction Area, effective 12:01 a.m. on Friday, August 30, 2024. Following Idaho State Fire Restriction guidelines, fire indices are no longer meeting the necessary criteria to stay in Stage 1 Restrictions. Visitors are reminded that vegetation is still dry, and to be careful with all use of fire in the outdoors. While fire restrictions are being lifted, please be aware that burn bans may still be in place in some areas.
Evacuations: Cuprum remains at a Level 1 (READY) evacuation level.
Closures: The Forest Closure Order updated Monday at 7:00 a.m. Some areas previously closed to the public have been reopened. For details about the closure, visit https://www.fs.usda.gov/alerts/payette/alerts-notices. There is still a lot of work being done in the fire area; for your safety and the safety of firefighters, please observe the existing Payette Forest Closures still in effect and watch out for firefighters and fire traffic.
Restrictions: Effective 12:01 a.m. on Friday, August 30, 2024, Stage 1 fire restrictions were lifted. There are currently no fire restrictions in place, but visitors are reminded that vegetation is still dry and to be careful with all use of fire outdoors.
