Alexander Mountain Fire Update Daily Update for August 4, 2024 by Southwest Area Incident Management Team 1
Acres: 9,668
Start Date: 07/29/24
Location: Larimer County, Colorado
Personnel: 508
Containment: 32%
Highlights: There was no western movement of the fire overnight. Crews focused on structure protection in communities and along Highway 34 and extinguishing hot spots near Cedar Park. Crews are making great progress on containment lines and will continue to strengthen handlines while monitoring for additional hot spots. Please remember the use of unauthorized, unmanned aerial systems (UAS), or drones, in a fire area endangers the lives of pilots and firefighters. Never fly uncrewed aircraft over or near a fire.
Fire Activity: Fire crews are working diligently completing tasks on the line during some very hot weather and fire activity is slowing. Fuels remain dry and able to support fire. Although the fire will not be as aggressive, spread is still possible. Gusty winds may cause an increase in fire behavior and spread in any direction.
Weather: Hot conditions will continue as moisture increases over the Alexander Mountain Fire. Showers and thunderstorms are possible in the area with erratic and gusty winds.
Smoke: Across the Front Range, dispersed smoke and high ozone levels are forecasted for today. Expect decreasing smoke throughout the week. For more information on smoke and air quality, visit Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment.
