Hill Fire Update 08-15-2024

Hill Fire
Publication Type: News - 08/15/2024 - 12:00

Acres: 7,724.

100% Contained.

Today is the last day the Hill Fire will be managed under Type 3 North Coast Interagency Incident Management Team. As of 6:00am August 15th. 2024, the Hill Fire has transitioned to a Type 4 incident that will be managed by local staff from the Lower Trinity Ranger District.

Approximately 100 personnel remain assigned and will continue to mop-up remaining heat sources and patrol the fire until all smoke and heat are extinguished. Heavy equipment operators continue to work alongside resource advisors to restore damaged terrain from fire suppression activities, improve drainage systems, and facilitate the forest's recovery and regeneration. Repair work is currently focused along Ammon Ridge, once complete, repair work will then be focused on Hennessey Ridge.

Unburned islands in the interior of the Hill Fire perimeter will continue to burn and smolder which may produce visible smoke. The fire is expected to remain within the current footprint; East of Route 1, South of Campbell Creek, West of South Fork Trinity River, and North of Cow Creek.

This will be the final update for the Hill Fire.
