Smoke Outlook 9.13.21
River Complex 2021
Publication Type: News
09/13/2021
Fire
The RIVER COMPLEX grew minimally yesterday (less than 100 acres) as moisture from the rain Thursday (9/9) night persists. Containment is up significantly to 30%. Dry air aloft today could cause more an afternoon fire activity/growth uptick. ANTELOPE FIRE again produced some smoke, with ~1200 acres growth yesterday. Today should see slightly warmer temperatures and more active afternoon behavior under NNW winds. (See: inciweb.nwcg.gov/ for latest details).
Smoke
Light, terrain driven winds this morning will once again give way to transport this afternoon from a more directly northerly direction. Shasta Valley and Butte Valley sites should remain at Moderate/USG, however the Cougar Creek fire appears to be affecting Lakeview and sometimes Klamath Falls. Increasing fire activity and smoke production could again bring afternoon/evening smoke to USG/Unhealthy ranges south along the Hwy 3 corridor.
