River Complex 2021
Publication Type: News 08/05/2021

Fire behavior overnight on the River Complex was active with a significant increase in growth on the Summer and Haypress Fires. The Summer Fire grew approximately 2,018 acres from the previous day while the Haypress Fire grew by approximately 3,034 acres.

Today’s weather is forecast to bring cooler temperatures with increased winds from the Northwest by this afternoon. Critical fire weather is expected to continue until conditions stabilize Friday and into the weekend. Smoke will continue to persist at the lower elevations.

The complex currently consists of 19 known active fires. There may be additional fires in the complex area that have not yet been identified. Of known fires, 4 fires have been contained and are in patrol status. Most of the active fires are ½ to 20 acres. The largest fires are Haypress at 11,522 acres, Cronan at 510 acres and Summer at 4,730 acres. The estimated total acreage for the complex is 16,773 acres.

Priorities remain protection of identified values at risk within the complex and all fires are planned for full suppression.

Resources:

  • 335 personnel
  • 6 hand crews
  • 3 helicopters
  • 20 engines
  • 3 dozers
