Fires within the River Complex grew by 2,103 acres on Saturday. Largely, fire behavior is smoldering and creeping under a strong nighttime inversion and heavy smoke layer. The Haypress Fire grew by approximately 1,092 acres for total acreage of 15,601. The Summer Fire grew approximately 869 acres from the previous day for total acreage of 8,362. The Cronan Fire is currently 1,212 acres. Total acreage for the complex is 25,188 acres with 5% containment.

Starting today, our responsibility for managing fires will extend into the Shasta-Trinity National Forest. Authority for managing some of the fires near the boundary of the Klamath and Shasta-Trinity National Forests was delegated to California Team 14 last night by Forest Supervisor Rachel Birkey. A new fire in the Snowslide Peak area of the SHF was reported yesterday and crews are enroute to gather additional information on the fire such as acreage and threats to infrastructure and/or critical natural resources. Crews will continue to construct direct and indirect line, combined with firing operations to contain the larger fires.

Dry weather and warmer temperatures accompanied by diurnal and terrain-driven winds are expected. Another trough will bring slightly milder temperatures on Sunday. Next week, another warming and drying trend is expected as high pressure builds in.

Evacuation orders: Siskiyou County has issued evacuation orders for the communities of Cecilville, Summerville and Petersburg. An evacuation order means there is immediate threat to life and is a lawful order to leave now. The area is closed to public access.

Road closures: The Callahan-Cecilville Road is closed from approximately 1 mile west of the community of Callahan to Cecilville.

Priorities remain protection of identified values at risk within the complex and all fires are planned for full suppression.

Additional personnel and equipment have been requested, although numerous fires in the area and across the country are limiting available resources.
