River Complex Fire Evening Update 8/3

River Complex 2021
Publication Type: News 08/04/2021

Fire behavior moderated today on the River Complex due to a smoke inversion over most of the area.

Evacuation orders are in place for the town of Cecilville, all residents along Caribou Road, all residents along Taylor Creek Road and surrounding areas due to the River Complex. Please leave these areas immediately.

Evacuation warnings have been issued for the following areas surrounding the Cecilville area: Godfried, Blue Ridge, Black Bear, Uncle Sam Mine and Eddy Gulch Road. An evacuation warning remains in place for the Forks of Salmon and Sawyers Bar areas. This is a WARNING only at this time. Be alert and ready to go in case an order is issued in the future.

A Red Flag Warning has been issued for Wednesday afternoon for strong gusty winds and low humidity. The River Complex will continue to be a dynamic situation due to critically dry fuels, limited firefighting resources and the continued hot and dry weather. Residents of these areas need to monitor information and heed direction from authorities.

California Interagency Incident Management Team 14 (Watkins) assumed command of the River Complex at 6:00 this evening.
