Cause:        Lightning
Fuels/Topography:        Timber, rugged terrain

Evacuations:            None

Closures: Cascade River Road at and including Marble Creek Campground, Mineral Park Campground, and all tributary roads, trailheads, and trails are all closed. The public is not to enter the area for public and firefighter safety.

Update: Firefighters observed minimal fire behavior on the fireline yesterday. A temporary gate was installed on Cascade River Road at Marble Creek to keep public out of the fire closure area. Today sawyers will be working to clear out the remaining snags along Cascade River Road as well as finishing up the wrapping of the Johnsons cabin. More resources are on order as the fire gets closer to the containment lines and crews timeout. As a reminder, the public is asked to stay out of the closure area for public and firefighter safety.

Weather: High pressure will continue with very warm conditions into Saturday. High clouds will increase tonight into Friday morning, with smoke aloft at times due to southerly flow. RH values during the afternoon will drop into the 40-50% range Friday and Saturday afternoon, with relatively poor RH recoveries tonight. The lower RHs, combined with unstable conditions, will lead to elevated concerns through Saturday. Winds will be light during the overnight periods, increasing from the west both Friday and Saturday afternoon. Although precipitation is not expected into Saturday, there is a very slight chance (5-10%) of thunderstorms Friday afternoon, however, these probabilities remain very low.

Smoke: For more information on smoke and air quality please visit: https://wasmoke.blogspot.com/

Air Space Restrictions: There are no air space restrictions at this time.

Forest Restrictions: The Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie has a full campfire ban and forest-wide shooting restrictions in place to help prevent human-caused starts during this period of unprecedented resource scarcity. Additional details at: www.fs.usda.gov/mbs

Update: Warm and dryer weather came over the fire yesterday allowing the fire to reemerge showing smoke and moderate fire growth. Fire crews were able to use a helicopter to sling in needed supplies to help wrap the Johnson Cabin due to the surrounding steep rugged terrain. Last night a public incursion happened on Cascade River Road that resulted in a response from law enforcement. The public is asked to stay out of the fire area.

Weather: The upper-level ridge over Western Washington will bring clear skies and hot temperatures over the next few days. Today, clear and sunny with light winds out of the west around 5mph. Daytime temperatures will reach the lower 90’s with overnight temperatures only getting down to the mid 60’s. Maximum humidity overnight will be around 69%.
