Structure protection is an assessment of any and all values at risk of a wildfire.

Crews assigned to structure protection visit locations and assess the risk to property and its likelihood of surviving a wildfire.

For strategic planning purposes, firefighters could be in your neighborhood developing a structure inventory for current and future wildfire risks.

"Hose" is a critical tool that can be used by firefighters on wildfires. Hoses allow for water suppression efforts to occur and to help expedite the extinguishment process! But have you ever wondered what happens to ALL the hose after it's been deployed on a wildfire?

The short answer is it's "backhauled"! The hose is brought back to fire camp, and logistics staff sort, organize, roll, and inspect the fire hose to ensure it's in safe, working order. It then goes back into the supply of available hose that can be used for other firefighting operations.

A snag is any dead or dying standing tree.

The IMT and any other assigned resource convene every morning to review that day's operational briefing. This ensures a common operating picture before a long day of work begins!

For strategic planning purposes, firefighters could be in your neighborhood developing a structure inventory for current and future wildfire risks.
