Port Angeles, Wash. – Fire activity increased on the Low Divide and Martins Lake Fires today as forecasted and was in line with what firefighters were expecting. Fire managers completed an aerial reconnaissance of all active fires today. There continues to remain no threat to critical infrastructure or communities from these fires at this time. As such, the next published update will be on Monday, September 18.
Port Angeles, Wash. – The fires across the park had a slight increase in activity today. The warmer and drier weather that was forecasted for this weekend has started to arrive. Fire managers are expecting increased activity tomorrow and into the weekend ahead of the next cold front early next week.
Port Angeles, Wash. – Aerial reconnaissance and ground observations today showed another day of minimal fire activity across the six wildfires burning in Olympic National Park. As such there is no significant change in the reported size of these fires. Smoke was visible in the Elwha Valley from Hurricane Ridge further towards the south end due to the Martins Lake and Low Divide Fires.
Port Angeles, Wash. – Today the wildfires in Olympic National Park showed minimal to zero growth due to the weak cold front that came through. Some areas in and around the park saw nearly a ¼” of rain while other areas saw none, the amount was highly variable.
Port Angeles, Wash. – The wildfires across Olympic National Park showed minimal activity today as a weak low pressure weather system brought increased clouds and humidity. Firefighters deployed to the Low Divide and Martins Lake Fires reported a trace of rain and firefighters on the Eagle Point Fire experienced cooler temperatures with cloud cover throughout the day.
Port Angeles, Wash. – Fire activity increased today and all six fires are burning in designated wilderness. The Eagle Point Fire showed moderate fire activity. Flames burning single trees and groups of trees related to the Eagle Point Fire could be observed from the Hurricane Ridge area. The fire grew but a more accurate acreage will be known after infrared mapping flights take place. Fire crews continued to monitor the fire and apply a confine and contain strategy to help limit the amount of fire activity north of Obstruction Point Road.
Port Angeles, Wash. – As temperatures warmed and relative humidity levels dropped, fire activity increased slightly. The Hurricane and Eagle Point fires remained mostly quiet with some smoldering and smoking. Martins Lake Fire grew by 1.5 acres to a total of 3 acres. The Low Divide Fire showed more smoke than yesterday, but growth was not significant. Firefighters continue to make contact with and provide escorts to backpackers in the area.
