Key Message Crews found many spot fires yesterday, which has made lining the fire’s perimeter a slower process than planned. Helicopters have been vital in keeping the northern edge of the fire from spreading up slope by providing water bucket drops. Crews continue to keep the fire from advancing across the Smith River. Key Message The decrease in acreage from yesterday is a result of more accurate mapping from an IR (infrared) flight that occurred on Monday at 3:30 p.m. Yesterday, the County Assist Team provided aircraft to assist with the suppression of the Ridgetop Fire and Pelican Point Fire. Current Status

Key MessageThe DNRC County Assist Team assumed command of the fire on Sunday, August 11. Fire managers are using a full suppression strategy to manage the fire. The primary objectives are to keep the fire west of the Smith River, prep and protect structures and stop the fire’s spread by building direct and indirect containment lines.
