BLM rescinds Temporary Closure Order on Animas City Mountain The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Tres Rios Field Office rescinds the Temporary Closure Order at 11:59 PM on May 16, 2023, that was in place for public safety during the Animas City Mountain Prescribed Burn.

The Animas City Mountain prescribed burn completed the second day of ignitions. 102 acres were accomplished today. Unit 4 & 7 had favorable fire effects in Ponderosa Pine and Gambel Oak. Smoke is anticipated to settle in the Durango valley bottom overnight. Go to www.airnow.gov for current air quality.

 Animas City Mountain prescribed burn in Durango postponed for 2022   Dolores, Colo. – The Bureau of Land Management Tres Rios Field Office will postpone the prescribed fire treatment on Animas City Mountain located within the Durango area until spring 2023. The area receiving recent moisture along with shorter days have contributed to undesirable burning conditions for the remainder of 2022.
