Local authorities in Eastland County requested assistance from Texas A&M Forest Service on the Wheat Field Fire at approximately 6:00 pm on March 17th, 2022. Initial crews on scene immediately requested for more resources, including an incident commander with more complex qualifications. Forward progression has not been stopped. It is actively burning in thick brush and coastal grass fields. Heavy equipment and a Texas Intrastate Fire Mutual Aid System (TIFMAS) strike team are currently on scene.
