Incident Description The Rhino Fire started around 2:30 pm and began burning in tall grass. Somervell County Fire Department quickly responded and began suppression actions before requesting assistance from Texas A&M Forest Service. Heavy equipment and engines from Texas A&M Forest Service, Texas Intrastate Fire Mutual Aid System (TIFMAS), and Somervell county Fire Department are working in unified command to stop this fire.

Weather Concerns

Sunny, hot, and dry weather will continue through sunset with highs around 108 and minimum relative humidity near 15 percent. A south wind will prevail at speeds between 10 and 15 mph and wind gusts near 20 mph. Temperatures will steadily cool after sunset and humidity will gradually increase with recovery just above 70 percent. The wind will remain southerly tonight and become breezy, especially late this evening and overnight. No precipitation or wind shifts are expected through tonight. Similar weather conditions are expected Wednesday.
