On the afternoon of July 9, 2022, fire started 9 miles northwest. Fire was located in heavy juniper and mesquite terrain. Multiple local fire departments responded to assist, along with State resources from Texas A&M Forest Service (TAMFS). TAMFS and local fire department are working in unified command.
