At 4:50 p.m. on Aug. 6, Texas A&M Forest Service received a request for assistance on a fire burning southwest of Godley, Johnson County, Texas. The fire is burning in grass fuels, and is exhibiting moderate to extreme fire behavior, burning actively on both flanks and the head.

Multiple structures were threatened and a voluntary evacuation was in place for CR 1233. 

Texas A&M Forest Service mobilized the following to assist with response efforts: fire managers and miscellaneous overhead, dozers, engine crews from Texas Intrastate Fire Mutual Aid System (TIFMAS), Emergency Medical Task Force (EMTF) personnel and aircraft, including an air attack plane (AA), single engine air tankers (SEATs), a fireboss plane (FB), helicopters and a large airtanker (LAT).

Hot and mostly dry conditions will occur again today. Surface winds, although not as strong as yesterday, will prevail out of the south around 10 mph gusting up to 15-20 mph at times this afternoon. Temperatures will start near 80 degrees this morning rising to near 106 degrees later this afternoon. Relative humidity around 75% this morning will drop to 25-30% later this afternoon. There is a very low chance (15-20%) that an isolated thunderstorm may approach the fire later this afternoon/evening. Erratic, gusty winds and lightning will be the main hazards with any thunderstorms that do develop.
