On the afternoon of June 29, 2021, a fire was started on the North side of Sweetwater within the city limits. Multiple local fire departments responded to assist, along with State resources from Texas A&M Forest Service (TAMFS). Texas A&M Forest Service and Sweetwater Fire Department are working in unified command. 
The fire is burning extremely active due to high winds, low relative humidity values, and high temperatures. Three structures have already been consumed as per Sweetwater Fire Chief and several more are threatened, Bluebonnet RV park is also currently under evacuation orders.

Expected elevated fire weather conditions this afternoon and early evening. The winds will be south at 15 to 20 mph with a few gusts to 30 mph. The minimum RH will be around 10 percent late this afternoon and early evening. Expecting a fair recovery for the RH tonight with around 70 percent by Friday morning.
