Lone Rock Fire July 17th Operations Update by PNW2 & OSFM Incident Operations Chiefs
The Lone Rock Fire began July 13, and is currently being managed under a full suppression strategy. Multiple Incident Management Teams are working to contain the fire and protect all structures and values at risk. Pacific Northwest Team 2 assumed command of the fire from the Southern Area Gray team on Wednesday, July 17 at 6:00 AM. Oregon State Fire Marshal's Red Team under Incident Commander Ian Yocum is providing dedicated structure protection under a Unified Command structure. Oregon Department of Forestry personnel are also working to protect state lands.
Firefighters continue to work on building containment lines and protecting threatened communities as this wildfire has spread across Gilliam, Wheeler, Morrow and Grant counties in Central Oregon.

Gilliam County – From the community South of Lonerock. An evacuation center is set up at memorial hall in Condon. For more information on evacuations, visit Gilliam County Sheriff's Office Facebook page.
Morrow County – From the West County Line along Buttermilk Canyon to HWY 207, Mile Post 10 South of Hardman to the South Morrow County line. Planned Actions |
Mop and patrol in and near the town of Lonerock. Point protection around the town of Hardman. Prepare and hold Highway 207 from Anston Wright Campground south to Forest Road 21. Also, prepare and hold Forest Road 21 from Highway 207 north to Lonerock. |
