Planned Actions

Crews will continue scouting indirect containment lines, prep identified holding features and perform structure assessments in the Little Summit prairie area. Firing operations may be initiated as needed. Crews will secure and mop up previous shifts firing operations. Structure protection measures in Toggle Meadows. Resources will be scouting private land and values at risk south of the incident.

Projected Incident Activity

12 hours: Fire behavior is expected to follow similar patterns of increasing fire behavior from 1600 through the early morning hours. A switch from light W-SW winds to a steady NW winds will ours. continue to push the active S flanks to the SE. Expectations of several miles of new growth are anticipated. Spread to the E and NE will continue to be moderated.

24: Expect a slower start to active fire behavior today as smoke settles over the fire area. Another day with predicted RHs below 20% will allow fire behavior to increase in the early afternoon driven by active spotting and running through fine fuels. Expected growth is southerly an 24 hours: easterly along the S flank. Continued steady progression in the afternoon to the east and northeast up Thornton Creek and West Thornton Creek with an expected growth of approximately 1/4 mile per day. Northerly progression along Double Corral Creek and north to the FS-30 road in the area of Camp Creek will continue.

Remarks

The Ochoco National Forest has implemented a forest closure for the Paulina Ranger District. The Paulina District Complex Fire Closure went into effect on July 25th. Identified areas, and roads and trails therein, are closed to public access to provide enhanced safety of firefighting personnel and the public. For more information visit: https://www.fs.usda.gov/alerts/ochoco/alerts-notices/?aid=89203.

Mandatory evacuation orders remain in effect for areas in Crook and Wheeler Counties for areas in or near the fire.

Temporary Flight Restriction (TFR) has been put in place over the fire area. Visit https://tfr.faa.gov/tfr2/list.html for more information. Drone flights are also prohibited within this area.

SW CIMT 5 is also managing the Kitty Creek Fire (73 acres, 58% containment). Total personnel - 21.

The pattern with feature an upper broad trough over the northwest including the incident area. This will keep cooler temperatures over the area but RH values will still be in the teens. shortwave will impact the region on Monday and Tuesday brining chance of showers and possibly a thunderstorm.
