Projected Incident Activity

12 hours: Fire behavior is expected to diminish down to smoldering in all fuel types by midnight as humidity values gradually increase to over 60% and surface winds shift to terrain dominant down slope and down valley.

24 hours: Expect a slower start to active fire behavior today as humidity levels are forecast to remain above 35% until noon. Clear skies will allow for direct sunlight to accelerate drying out the fine fuels allowing fire behavior to increase in the early afternoon. Expected growth is southerly, connecting to the FS-42 road and flanking slowly to the east and west along the northern side of FS-42 road. Further interior on the southerly side, fire is expected to continue to fill in along the northern side of the 4270 road. Continued steady progression in the afternoon to the east and northeast up Thornton Creek and West Thornton Creek with an expected grown of  approximately 1/4 mile per day. Surface fire is likely to reach the western extend of an inholding adjacent to Toggle Meadow early in the burn period. Northerly progression is expected to be discontinuous due to the predicted light winds, relying on spot fire more than steady surface fire. Primary avenues of expected northerly growth are along Double Corral Creek and north to the FS-30 road in the area of Camp Creek.

Remarks

Transfer of command from the Type 3 IMT to SW CIMT 5 occurred at 1800 on 7/26.

Current Weather
Weather Concerns

A weak trough over the Northwest is maintaining near normal temperatures over the fire area. Very slight chance of precipitation, primarily to the west along the Cascades later in the weekend ncrease the chances of outflow winds affecting the fire, but the chances of significant storm activity over the fire are remote.
