The Red Fire is burning on the Deschutes National Forest, is in the Diamond Peak Wilderness located in steep terrain northwest of Crescent Lake near Red Mountain. The fire is currently estimated at about 50 acres. The fire is being managed under a full suppression strategy. Public and firefighter safety is the highest priority in managing this fire. 

The Southern Area Gray Incident Management Team, led by Incident Commander Fulton Jeansonne, assumed command of the fire on Friday, July 19, at 6:00 a.m. local time.

Critical resource needs have been adjusted in recognition of nation wide resource shortages due to conditions associated with PL5 and high fire activity within immediate area.

Weather Concerns

Dry weather is expected the next few days with a near  0% chance of rainfall. Winds will generally be on the light side  but will be a bit gusty on Wednesday afternoon with a push of 
marine air across the Cascades. There will be areas of smoke and  haze each day. It will be unstable Tuesday with moderate potential 
for large plume dominated fire growth.
