Current Situation
Total Personnel: 168
Size 5,987 Acres
Fuels Involved

Heavy mixed conifer timber in natural (unmanaged) stands. High mortality with heavy concentrations of timber litter and dead/down coarse wood.

Significant Events

Extreme fire behavior with plume development very early in the burn period. Fire spread along the full perimeter including upwind growth. Sustained crown fire and downwind spread driven by long-range spotting.

Outlook
Planned Actions

Continue primary and secondary indirect line construction and firing operations to prevent the main fire from advancing south, east and west. Continue to protect critical values to include City of Bend Watershed, Mt. Bachelor Ski Resort, several housing developments to also include the community of Sunriver.  Provide initial attack support to local agencies.

Projected Incident Activity

Elevated humidity and light precipitation will moderate fire activity, but response to moisture will lag in timber litter and larger fuels. Active fire behavior expected.

Remarks

Incident includes about 30 fires, most of which are less than one acre.  The largest fire in the Complex is the Little Lava Fire which is 5,871 acres.

Current Weather
Weather Concerns

An approaching weather system will move into the region on Wednesday bringing rain showers and a slight chance of thunderstorms. It will also bring much cooler temperatures and higher humidity levels. A ridge of high pressure will begin to move back into the area on Thursday with continued cool temperatures but dry conditions.
