The American Mesa Fire is a lightning-caused wildfire, first reported on Aug. 5, on the Jicarilla Ranger District of the Carson National Forest. With full containment, fire crews continue to patrol, monitor and mop-up the fire until it is controlled and called out.
The wildfire is located in a wildland urban interface that includes oil and gas infrastructure and private property.
