After ignitions took place during the last week of April on the Windy Shingle prescribed fire unit, burning material rolled out of the prescribed burn unit and into a steep, inaccessible area of Shingle Creek. The Prescribed Fire has now been converted to a Wildfire by definition for administrative and resource ordering purposes. Under this declaration, Fire Management has ordered resources and a Type 3 Incident Commander to fully confine, control, and contain the unplanned ignition outside of the prescribed fire unit. While there is no immediate threat to life or property at this time, Fire Management is taking appropriate actions to suppress this fire before conditions become warmer and drier.
