Highlighted Activity
Located in the Kern River Canyon along Hwy 178, a mile up from the Upper Richbar day use area, a vegetation fire started, Sunday, May 18th, 2025, at approximately 3:30 p.m., as an interagency response between the U.S. Forest Service, Kern County Fire Department , and Bureau of Land Management Fire.
Joint efforts of heavy equipment, air attack, hand crews, engines, and water tenders responded quickly. The fire is being diligently fought by our resources, who will continue their efforts to improve containment. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
