The Kane Fire is on the North Kaibab Ranger District of the Kaibab National Forest. It is about 13 miles southeast of Jacob Lake, 11 miles south of US 89A, and 5 miles east of SR 67. The fire was first detected on August 4, following a lightning storm on the evening of August 3. Immediate suppression actions were taken by air and ground resources. The fire is in pinyon pine/juniper, grass, and sage.

Scattered activity spreads across all of northern Arizona from Tuesday through the end of the week as a typical monsoon pattern returns and moisture remains in place. Temperatures will remain cool through Thursday, returning to average for the weekend.
