A combination of federal and state firefighters on the BLM West Dolores Rim prescribed burn had another great day of burning. They treated 124 acres in Unit 20A, bringing the total to 758 acres accomplished in the last two days. Fire resources will monitor units in the following days.
Firefighters have the conditions today to burn West Dolores Rim prescribed fire Unit 20A, a 124-acre Ponderosa pine unit located 7.4 miles northeast of Dove Creek, Colorado. This unit will be burned using ground ignitions only. 
Great weather conditions today made it possible for firefighters to treat 634 acres on the West Dolores Rim Prescribed Burn project located 3 miles east of Egnar, Colorado. If conditions allow, firefighters will continue to burn the remaining 124 acres tomorrow in Unit 20A, located approx. 7.4 miles northeast of Dove Creek, CO. 
On Wednesday, Sept. 25, BLM Southwest District Fire successfully treated about 192 acres on Carpenter Ridge in the Uncompahgre Field Office, CO.
If conditions are favorable, BLM Southwest District Fire plans to conduct prescribed burns on West Dolores Rim in the Tres Rios Field Office to reduce hazardous fuels and improve public land health. The treatments will be implemented as follows:
Carpenter Ridge prescribed burning on BLM land is going well. Firefighters are over halfway done. Smoke can be seen in the surrounding areas. Project area is located at the west end of Paradox Valley about 5 miles north of Paradox in Montrose County, Colorado.
If conditions are favorable, this Wednesday, September 25, 2024, BLM Southwest District Fire Management plans to conduct prescribed fire treatments on Carpenter Ridge in the Uncompahgre Field Office. Project goals are to reduce hazardous fuels, improve habitat for big game species, and build a more resilient ponderosa pine stand.
Firefighters are conducting a prescribed burn on West Dolores Rim today, September 7, 2024, 7 miles east of Dove Creek, CO. If conditions are good, they plan to burn 331-acres today. An additional 634-acre unit could be prescribed burned 3 miles east of Egnar, CO on Sunday or Monday. Expect to see visible smoke in these areas. 
Yesterday, firefighters on the West Dolores Rim Prescribed Burn successfully completed 560 acres with favorable conditions. Morning temperatures were cooler than expected, but once it warmed up it allowed firefighters the conditions to complete 2 units on BLM Tres Rios Field Office managed lands.
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) plans to conduct prescribed fire treatments on Thursday, May 9, 2024, at West Dolores Rim project area located approximately seven miles east, northeast of Dove Creek, CO.
