While things are drying out at lower elevations, the higher elevations around the Klamath National Forest are drying out much slower. Fire personnel on the Goosenest Ranger District are taking advantage of a window to continue with prescribed burning today. The Butte Hand Pile Unit is located about 9.5 miles west of Macdoel at Little Shasta Meadows, just north of Martin's Dairy at an elevation of roughly 6500 feet. The primary purpose of the project is to reduce conifer encroachment on aspen stands.
***UPDATE*** Due to unfavorable conditions at the Van Bremmer prescribed burn Saturday morning, no ignitions will be taking place today. Resources will remain at the project today to patrol yesterday's burn. --- Fire personnel on the Goosenest Ranger District had a successful day at the Van Bremmer prescribed burn on Friday, completing 45 acres of burning. Ignitions are planned to continue Saturday, as weather conditions permit. Up to 175 acres of burning may occur. 
The Goosenest Ranger District will be out at the Van Bremmer project today to do up to 213 acres of prescribed burning. Van Bremmer is located nine miles northeast of the community of Tennant.
  Fire managers from the Klamath National Forest accomplished 15 acres of prescribed burning at the Van Bremmer Project on Monday. The prescribed burn is located about nine miles northeast of Tennant. Goosenest Ranger District employees were joined by resources from CAL FIRE's Siskiyou Unit to take part in the burn.
Fire managers successfully completed 85 acres of burning at Scott Bar Mountain today. A patrol will remain on site this evening. Crews will return to the project tomorrow to patrol and mop up where needed.
Klamath National Forest fire managers from the Salmon/Scott River Ranger District are planning on resuming prescribed burn operations on Sunday, May 21 at Scott Bar Mountain. Up to 85 acres will be burned if conditions allow.  Smoke will be visible from Fort Jones, Quartz Valley, and Scott River Road. 
Smoke will be in the air again over the Scott Bar Mountain Prescribed Burn area, with burn personnel looking to underburn up to 85 acres tomorrow if conditions allow.
Burn operations are set to resume out at the Scott Bar Mountain Prescribed Burn Project on Tuesday, May 16. Burn personnel will be looking to treat 52 acres with prescribed fire tomorrow. Smoke will be visible from the Scott River Road, Quartz Valley, and Fort Jones. If traveling on Scott River Road, be on the lookout for fire equipment and smoke. Please use your headlights and reduce speeds.
After a successful day of burning yesterday, conditions are forecast to remain favorable for burn operations to continue on the Scott Bar Mountain Underburn today. Resources will target 42 acres for burning today. Smoke will be visible from Scott River Road, Fort Jones, and Quartz Valley.
After a successful day of prescribed burning yesterday, fire personnel are heading back out to the Scott Bar Mountain Prescribed Burn project to continue burn operations.  Up to 80 acres could be burned today, as weather and fuel conditions allow.  Smoke will be visible from the Scott Valley as well as from Scott River Road. If travelling on the Scott River Road, please watch for fire equipment moving about the area and reduce speeds. In areas of smoke, be sure to turn on headlights.
