The Cameron Peak Fire Joint Information Center (970-980-2500) is now open. Call to hear a recording about current information and/or speak to a call-taker about evacuations and road closures. The JIC will close at 10p tonight.
This afternoon gusty winds from the southwest caused the fire to become very active on the northwest perimeter, often referred to as the “thumb” of the fire and firefighters were pulled back to their safety zones.
The fire is moving eastward and has crossed the Killpecker line and near Middle Bald Mountain.
The indirect lines along the Deadman and Manhattan Roads were developed in preparation for this type of event.
Aircraft are being used to drop water and retardant to slow down the fire spread.
All evacuation alerts are administered by the Larimer County Sheriff’s Department. Refer all inquires to www.nocoalert.org.
