Josephine County and Bureau of Land Management re-open some recreation sites along Rogue River
Medford, Oregon – Thanks to progress made on the Rum Creek Fire, Josephine County Parks, in coordination with the Josephine County Sheriff and the Bureau of Land Management, is reopening some recreation sites along the Rogue River. Hog Creek County Park and Boat Ramp, Indian Mary Park and Campground and Ennis Riffle County Park will be open starting Wednesday morning. The Almeda County Park and Campground and Galice boat ramp are still closed. BLM recreation sites that are currently closed include Rocky Bar, Robert Dean, Chair, Rand, Smullin Visitor Center, and Argo. Additional public lands closures exist around the Rum Creek Fire, including the Rogue River Trail and Rainie Falls Trail. Recreational boaters must take out at Ennis Riffle County Park. Galice Road is currently closed past Bear Camp Road, and there is no public access to Galice. The public is reminded to drive carefully on roads near the fire, including Galice Road. Fire personnel are actively working on the fire, creating heavy traffic on some roads. If you don’t need to be in the fire area, please stay out. Please slow down, keep your eyes on the road, and yield to oversized vehicles.
